Hello family and friends!
This will be my third year participating in Christian Youth in Action®, an amazing summer outreach program that allows me to travel and teach the Gospel to children in local areas of northern Indiana.
This year I have decided to take on more responsibility and work in the role of Advanced Summer Missionary or ASM. This means that I get to be involved in demonstrating to other summer missionaries how to effectively teach bible lessons, memory verses, and missionary stories. I also get to participate in more advanced classes during training that will help better equip me for teaching during the summer. I chose to be an ASM, because I wanted to help the younger or new missionaries like the ASMs did for me my first year at CYIA™.
During the 2024 pre-training, I was just a beginner, who didn’t quite understand everything. I did not know anybody there except for two other teens, and I felt quite alone. After noticing I was sitting alone, an older teen approached me and introduced herself. She noticed how much I was struggling and gave me some tips to help me improve my Wordless Book presentation. I later learned that she was an ASM. She helped me improve and was an amazing source of encouragement. She was patient and understanding any time I asked for help or just needed someone to talk to. She always pushed me to do better, even when I didn’t think I could. I have always admired her. Realizing how much I needed her during my training gave me the desire to be that for someone else. It made me want to repay her kindness and to help the younger or newer missionaries this year. After CYIA™, we will then go on the road for a summer full of 5 Day Clubs!
Because we are local missionaries, this does cost money. I am asking my friends and family to support me in the work I will be doing with CEF® this summer to reach children with the Gospel. Philippians 4:16-17 says, “For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.” Many people are unable to go out and share the gospel like I will be doing this summer, but that does not mean you can’t play an important part in this ministry. Ministry is not possible without the financial and prayer support of people like you. I ask that you prayerfully consider giving in honor of the missions work I will be doing this summer!
